Air Force Officer Undergoing Treatment

BERLIN -- A U.S. Air Force officer who went missing for three days in Kyrgyzstan is undergoing treatment at a U.S. military hospital in Germany and is expected to remain there for several more days, a military spokeswoman said Monday.

There was no immediate word on the condition of Major Jill Metzger, 33, who was admitted Sunday to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, after arriving on a C-17 airplane from Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan.

Major Krista Carlos, an Air Force spokeswoman, said she had spoken to Metzger and that doctors would give an update on her condition later Monday.

Metzger disappeared last Tuesday while shopping at a Kyrgyz department store. A search involving Kyrgyz and U.S. investigators came up empty until Friday, when police said she knocked on the door of a house in a town outside the capital and said she had been abducted.

It was unclear how long Metzger would remain at Landstuhl. "She's going to be here for a couple of days, but we are not sure how long," said Carlos.
