GLASGOW, Scotland -- Scotland and Hibernian striker Garry O'Connor has agreed terms on a £1.6 million ($2.78 million) move to Lokomotiv Moscow.

O'Connor, 22, is Hibernian's joint top scorer on 14 goals and is in Scotland's squad for Wednesday's friendly with Switzerland. He has seven caps.

"I think it's bizarre, it's bizarre in the respect that there's not too many Scots players that are linked to or go to clubs like that," Scotland assistant coach Ally McCoist said on Monday.

"There's certainly been an influx of top European players into the old Soviet Union. I just hope that everything does work out for him."

A Hibernian spokesman told the BBC? Scotland web site: "One of the reasons the club is prepared to speak with them is that this could be life-changing for Garry.

"The figures quoted in newspapers are accurate -- it's [English Premier League]-type wages we are speaking about, and Garry could become a millionaire.

"Fee negotiations have been going on for a while, and the level is approaching our evaluation of the player. We still have a couple of weeks before their transfer window closes, so there is no rush."
