The Arkady Novikov Group, Volvo Car Russia and the charity program Linia Zhizni have kicked off the Zolotoye Serdtse charity drive to raise funds for four children born with congenital heart disease. Aiming to raise $24,000 for the children's medical treatment, all Novikov restaurants are offering 100 ruble chocolate hearts until Thursday, with all proceeds being donated to the program. Every 50th heart contains a numbered gold heart, which enters the recipient in a lottery draw that will held at the Verandah u Dachi restaurant on Thursday.

Indian restaurant Indus has started working around the clock. As part of its new schedule, the restaurant has introduced a breakfast menu that runs from 8 a.m. to noon. Highlights include Adzharian-style khachapuri (150 rubles), omelets with porcini (120 rubles) and blinis stuffed with apple jam and creamed semolina, with a vanilla and sour-cream sauce (220 rubles).

As part of the recent Industry Napitkov exhibition, the Union of Sommeliers and Experts of Russia organized a sommelier competition -- the national Wine People Trophy. First place went to Andrei Kupriyanov of Dvoryanskoye Gnezdo restaurant in Zhukovka in the Moscow region. Second place went to Alexei Mitrofanovsky from Hotel Baltschug Kempinski Moscow, and third place was awarded to Albert Meshchaninov from the Dafna hotel in the Tver region.

Prostiye Veshchi (pictured) has introduced not one, but two new menus. With the new season comes new winter dishes, such as fillet of beef with feijoa sauce (380 rubles), hot foie gras with orange and green salad (540 rubles) and British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver's Christmas salad recipe with mozzarella, parma ham, ruccola and orange (450 rubles). Breakfast selections have also appeared including several types of porridge (100 rubles), fried eggs or omelets (100 rubles), toast and various sandwiches. Free Wi-Fi is also now available.

For those missing the sun and sea comes the new Sochi-themed restaurant called Sochi. The interior and the menu are designed to re-create the feel of the Black Sea resort. Typical dish names include Krasnaya Polyana (a ski resort near Sochi), Vzmorye (seaside) and Briz (breeze). The emphasis is on seafood.
