Kandelaki Hurt in Kerimov Car Crash

NICE, France -- Billionaire industrialist and State Duma Deputy Suleiman Kerimov remained in critical condition in a French hospital on Monday after a sports car he was driving slammed into a tree and caught fire, officials said.

A spokesman for the Marseille hospital authority said Kerimov's condition was "worrisome" and that he was breathing with help from a respirator.

Doctors will not know whether his condition has stabilized for another 48 hours, the spokesman said.

Kerimov, 41, and a 31-year-old woman who was in the car with him were injured in the crash Saturday in Nice, officials said. Kerimov was flown by helicopter to a Marseille hospital.

Russian media identified the woman as CTC television host Tina Kandelaki. Police in Nice identified the injured woman as having the same name, but could not confirm it was the media personality. Kandelaki suffered burns on her thighs and hands. She was treated and released from a Nice hospital Saturday and flew back to Russia, police said.

Kerimov purchased the Ferrari Enzo sports car in Nice earlier Saturday, police said.
