Dynamo Beats CSKA to Salvage Some Pride

Champion CSKA Moscow ended the season with a 2-1 home defeat to neighboring Dynamo on Sunday and finished level on 58 points with Spartak Moscow, which won 1-0 at Krylya Sovietov Samara.

CSKA retained the title as the army side won more matches than its city rivals, which is the decisive factor if two teams finish level on points.

Igor Semshov and Denis Kolodin scored either side of Ivica Olic's equalizer to give Dynamo a welcome victory at the end of a poor season in which they narrowly avoided relegation.

The league's top scorer, Roman Pavlyuchenko, netted his 18th goal of the season to hand Spartak a bittersweet victory over 10th-placed Krylya Sovietov.

Lokomotiv Moscow secured third place, five points behind CSKA, after a Draman Traore goal helped them to a 1-0 home win over Rostov.

Lokomotiv struggled to break down a stubborn Rostov side, but Traore eventually made the decisive breakthrough midway through the second half.

Zenit St. Petersburg was the only team who could beat Lokomotiv to third, but Dick Advocaat's side finished three points adrift of the railwaymen after playing out a dull 0-0 draw at home to Tom.

Orlando Calisto scored the only goal of the game as Rubin overcame Amkar 1-0. Kurban Berdiyev's side finished the season in fifth.

And in their last Premier League game for at least one season, relegated pair Torpedo Moscow and Shinnik shared the points on Saturday with a 1-1 draw.
