Khodorkovsky in 11-Man Cell

Jailed oil magnate Mikhail Khodorkovsky has been moved to a crowded cell and denied access to news, a spokesman said on Tuesday in what his lawyers alleged was punishment for making new political comments.

Last week, Khodorkovsky wrote an article in Vedomosti calling on liberals, communists and nationalists to unite in a credible opposition movement.

A statement from Khodorkovsky's spokesman said he has been moved to Isolation Unit No. 1 from Special Isolation Unit No. 4 of Moscow's Matrosskaya Tishina detention center, where he is awaiting his appeal.

"Now he is in a cell for 11 people, he does not get newspapers any more, and has lost his access to television," the statement said. The Federal Prisons Service refused to comment on the report, Russian news agencies reported.
