Alfa Bank

Andrew John Baxter has been appointed chief financial officer of Alfa Bank, the company announced.

Before his appointment, Baxter worked at SUN Group. Initially employed in 1999 as CFO of one of SUN's portfolio companies, he was promoted to CFO of SUN Capital in 2000 and soon thereafter to partner in charge of the Moscow office of SUN Group.

Prior to the SUN Group, Baxter worked at Renaissance Capital, the U.S.-Russia Investment Fund, CS First Boston and Deloitte & Touche, all based either in Moscow or Johannesburg, South Africa.

Ernst & Young

Marchello Gelashvili has been named a partner in the global financial services group of assurance and advisory business services in the Moscow office of Ernst & Young, the company announced.

Gelashvili was born on Sept. 22, 1970. He received a diploma in international economic relations from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1994.

Gelashvili started his career at Ernst & Young's Moscow office in 1993. He has also worked in the firm's San Francisco office. After his return to the Moscow office, Gelashvili was promoted to senior manager in 2002.

Alexei Ivanov has been named a partner in the industrial products group of assurance and advisory business services of the Moscow office, Ernst & Young announced.

Ivanov holds master's degrees from the St. Petersburg University of Economics and Finance; the Universite Paris-Dauphine, France; and the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business.

Ivanov started his career in the St. Petersburg office of Ernst & Young in 1995 as a staff accountant. He worked in Paris and Sacramento, California, before coming to Moscow in 2000.

Wim van Hoeven has joined the Moscow office as a partner in the industrial products group of assurance and advisory business services, Ernst & Young announced.

Before joining E&Y Moscow, van Hoeven worked with E&Y the Netherlands, Greece, Bulgaria and Romania for 18 years. He graduated from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Netherlands, in 1986, with advanced degrees in economics and law. He joined Ernst & Young Rotterdam in 1987.

While in Romania, van Hoeven helped grow the Bucharest practice from a staff of 50 to 300, and was instrumental in the Ernst & Young-Arthur Andersen integration.

Sergei Zakaty has been named a partner in the business advisory services practice in the Moscow office, Ernst & Young announced.

Zakaty graduated from the Russian Economic Academy in Moscow in 1994 with a master's degree in the application of mathematics in economic research. He started his career in the Moscow office of Arthur Andersen in 1995 as an audit assistant. In 1999, he became a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

After the Ernst & Young-Andersen merger in 2002, Zakaty joined Ernst & Young as a senior manager in the business advisory services department of the Moscow office.

IFD Kapital

Yelena Ilinskaya has been appointed finance director of IFD Kapital, the company announced.

Ilinskaya graduated from the Moscow Economics and Statistics Institute in 1996 with a qualification in information systems in economics.

From 1997 to 2003, she worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers. From 2003 until her appointment, she was IFD's deputy finance director.

Olga Plaksina has been named chairwoman, IFD announced.

Plaksina graduated from the Ordzhonikidze State Management Academy in 1996. From 1994 to 2003, she worked for Coopers & Lybrand and PricewaterhouseCoopers in Moscow and New York.

While at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Plaksina was a member of the State Duma's expert commission on tax reform and chairwoman of the tax committee of the National Association of Fund Market Participants.

From 2003 until her appointment, she was deputy chairwoman and finance director at IFD.

Jones Lang LaSalle

David Dudley has been promoted to national director at Jones Lang LaSalle, the company announced. Dudley has worked for Jones Lang since 1994, for the past two years in Moscow.

Dudley is a British qualified chartered surveyor and a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. In 2003, he moved from Jones Lang's London office to Moscow to head the firm's strategic consulting and valuations department.

Moscow Narodny Bank

Vladimir Sokolov has been appointed head of treasury at Moscow Narodny Bank, the company announced. He has also joined the board as an executive director.

Sokolov joined the bank in 2003 and has held a number of senior positions within the capital markets division. Prior to joining MNB, he worked for several years as the managing director of the international monetary department of the Central Bank.

Troika Dialog

Andrei Petrosyan has been appointed director of the investment banking department at Troika Dialog, the company announced.

For the past five years, Petrosyan was a deputy general director at Novolipetsk Metal & Steel Works. Throughout the 1990s, he worked for major metals companies. Before entering the metals sector, he worked at the All-Union Markets Research Institute, finishing as a deputy director.

Vneshtorgbank

Irina Busheva has been appointed vice president and chairwoman of Vneshtorgbank Retail Services, VTB announced.

Busheva started her career in 1989 at Avtobank, where she was named deputy chairwoman of the board in 1992. She moved to MDM-Bank in 2001.

Mikhail Zadornov has been appointed president and chairman of the board of VTB Retail Services, the company announced.

Zadornov is currently a member of the State Duma, serving on the Budget and Taxes Committee and the Supervisory Commission on Defense and Security Budget Expenditures.

Zadornov formerly served on the Security Council, as finance minister and as first deputy prime minister.
