Gazprom Production Up Nearly 3%

Natural gas output rose in January-October to 485.676 billion cubic meters from 472.446 bcm in the first 10 months of 2001, a source close to the Energy Ministry said on Monday.

Preliminary data showed that the world's largest gas company, state-controlled Gazprom, produced 427.710 bcm of natural gas in the first 10 months of this year, up from 416.195 bcm in the same period of 2001, a rise of nearly 3 percent.

Medium-sized gas firms, including gas trader Itera, produced 29.813 bcm, up from 29.651 bcm in January-October 2001.

Oil firms extracted 27.973 bcm overall, the four largest firms being Surgutneftegaz with 10.941 bcm, state company Rosneft with 5.197 bcm, LUKoil with 3.422 bcm and Tyumen oil Co., or TNK, with 2.865 bcm.
