Ex-CB Chief Dubinin Leaves Gazprom

Sergei Dubinin has been removed from his post as Gazprom deputy chairman and will be replaced by the former head of Menatep St. Petersburg, Vitaly Savelyev.

"This position in the company is very important, and [Gazprom CEO] Alexei Miller wanted to bring his own man to the post," said a top Gazprom manager who declined to be identified.

Dubinin, a former Central Bank chairman, headed the Blue Stream gas pipeline and participated in liberalizing the Gazprom share market.

When Dubinin arrived at Gazprom, he took over all financial issues from Pyotr Rodionov. Before the announcement of Dubinin's departure, Nezavisimaya Gazeta published correspondence with Rodionov, including a note saying Gazprom assets were bringing in insufficient revenue to cover loan payments.

Gazprom officials deny the existence of the letter, but are still trying to calm investors, the paper reported.
