Hilmar Lorenz has been appointed general director of Hewlett-Packard's representative office in Russia, taking over for Nick Rossiter, whose assignment with HP Russia has expired.

Lorenz will continue to manage CIS business in the position of general director of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Lorenz started his career at HP in 1996 as a business development manager of high-end computing. In the beginning of 1998, he was appointed director in enterprise account organization in HP Russia, and in 2000 he became general director for HP CIS.

Before joining Hewlett-Packard, Lorenz worked for CONVEX Computers since 1993.

ABN Amro

Fred Neve has been appointed chief administrative officer for ABN AMRO in Russia.

He will head the infrastructure, operations, information technology, financial, legal, human resources, communications, administrative and support functions of the bank.

Neve joined ABN AMRO in 1986 as a senior consultant in the training and development department. After holding a number of management positions in human resources and information technology at the bank's corporate headquarters, he worked within ABN AMRO's international network in various positions in Hong Kong and Singapore.

Prior to joining ABN AMRO, Neve worked as a civil servant within the Dutch government for 14 years, being occupied in various military as well as civil positions. He is a retired captain of cavalry in the Royal Dutch Army.

Neve studied Economics at the Free University of Amsterdam.

Austrian Embassy

Manfred Schmid has been appointed the new commercial attache at the Austrian Embassy.

Schmid will responsible for the assistance of Austrian companies and their business ventures and activities in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

He worked for one year as a chartered accountant in Austria. He then worked for a year at the Federal Chamber of Commerce in Vienna.

Schmid spend three years as commercial attache in Cairo, Egypt, followed by three years as vice consul-commercial in Sydney, Australia.
