Sacked Radio Liberty Chief Gets NTV Gig

Radio Liberty's former Moscow bureau chief, recently dismissed for hosting a soccer chat show on NTV, said Thursday he will host one of the television station's main current affairs programs, "Geroi Dnya," or "Hero of the Day."

Savik Shuster will host the daily interview program for the next month or so, until the end of the television season, he said by telephone, adding that it was unclear whether he would continue doing so the following season.

Meanwhile, former NTV journalists who moved to TV6 after NTV was taken over by creditor Gazprom-Media are developing a new schedule.

Interfax quoted TV6's new general director Yevgeny Kisleyov as saying that former NTV correspondent Ernest Matskyavichus has been invited to host a current affairs talk show similar to NTV's "Glas Naroda," or "Voice of the People." The show's former host, Svetlana Sorokina, has been offered a news anchor's job on TV6. Neither has announced a decision.

TV6 has also started broadcasting NTV's political satire "Tushite Svet," albeit without presenter Lev Novozhonov.

In an interview in Thursday's Obshchaya Gazeta, Kiselyov said his current affairs program "Itogi" would also change in September by "getting shorter, more dynamic and more interesting."
