Mineralniye No Go?

CSKA basketball club will learn its fate Tuesday when the Russian Basketball Superleague considers its refusal to play in Mineralniye Vody on April 12.

The Russian champion cried off from the game against Lokomotiv Mineralniye Vody because of fears over safety, the state of the court and its hectic schedule, which sees them also playing in the North European Basketball League and the European Suproleague, said the club's press secretary.

Russian media reports have said the club could be relegated or fined for its withdrawal, but club president Alexander Gomelsky said he would sue if that happened.

CSKA plays ASVEL of Villeurbanne, France, in the quarterfinals of the Suproleague on Tuesday evening at 8 p.m., CSKA Sports Hall, 39A Leningradsky Prospekt, Metro: Dinamo. Tel. 213-7812.
