Georgian Match-Fixers Punished

TBILISI, Georgia — Two Georgian sides have been penalized for match fixing, a top soccer official said Friday.

Gorda Rustavi and Sioni Bolnisi, which both lie in the lower group B of the Georgian premier division, have been deducted three points apiece with three goals also awarded against them.

The president of the Georgian Football Federation, Merab Zhordania, told a news conference the federation had ruled that their game Wednesday, which ended in a 3-2 win for Gorda, had been arranged beforehand.

Bolnisi had gone 2-0 up, but later let in three goals to lose.
