Justice Official Found Slain in Moscow Apartment

The chief of the Moscow region justice department and his driver were found strangled in a Moscow apartment early Sunday, news reports said.

The bodies of Yuri Vlasov and his driver Dmitry Gruzdev were discovered by a relative early Sunday in a room of Vlasov's apartment, NTV television news reported.

It said both men had been strangled with a kitchen towel. Gruzdev had also been stabbed four times, the television report said.

Interfax, citing police sources, said two suspects in the killing were arrested Sunday. No details on the suspects were immediately reported.

Police did not comment on the killings, or the method in which the two were killed. Hundreds of contract murders are reported in Russia every year, and most are committed by professional hitmen using fire arms.
