Gazprom $2Bln Profit

Gas monopoly Gazprom said on Friday its profit after taxes, calculated to Russian accounting standards, was 59.6 billion rubles ($2.14 billion) in the first half of 2000.

A statement, issued by Gazprom’s press service, did not specify whether this was the company’s consolidated or nonconsolidated profit. It also gave no comparison.

Gazprom posted a consolidated net profit of 46.623 billion rubles and non-consolidated net profit of 52.183 billion rubles for the whole of 1999. Russian accounting standards differ greatly from international ones and Gazprom accounts made to international accounting standards last year showed a net loss of 79.28 billion rubles.
