Krasnoyarsk TV Out

MOSCOW -- Residents in Krasnoyarsk were cut off from their televisions and radios for five hours Monday because of a dispute over energy payments, Interfax reported.

Electricity to the Krasnoyarsk Television and Radio Broadcasting Center was cut off because of a 3 million ruble ($84,210) debt to the local utility, the agency said. As a result, residents could not watch national television channels or most local channels and could not listen to the radio.

Krasnoyarsk officials intervened to restore power until Aug. 1, by which time the energy company, Krasnoyarskenergo, intends to sign an agreement with state broadcasting company VGTRK, Interfax said.k
