Kiev Fills Energy Post

KIEV -- Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma has appointed Serhiy Yermilov as new energy minister, the presidential press service said Friday.

Yermilov, 42, a professional engineer, replaces Serhiy Tulub who resigned in June saying a dispute over how to reform Ukraine's troubled energy sector was the main reason.

The government plans to reform the depressed energy sector, boost cash collection, modernize aging equipment and attract strategic foreign investors. .TX. - Energy reform is a condition for the resumption of a $2.6 billion International Monetary Fund loan program that Kiev wants to get back on track.
