Kiev Angers Gazprom

MOSCOW -- Gas giant Gazprom plans to take action to stop Ukraine from reexporting natural gas to Hungary, Poland and Romania, a Gazprom management committee member said.

"Ukraine sells it at dumping prices, which violates the stability of European gas supplies," Yury Komarov said Friday.

"This is our gas, which has not been paid for and we will take measures, both diplomatic and legal, to stop it."

Komarov estimated illicit sales of Russian gas to Hungary, Poland and Romania at 2.5 billion cubic meters to 3.0 bcm per year.

Ukraine consumes around 80 bcm of gas annually but produces only 15 bcm. It owes Gazprom around $1.4 billion for previous supplies.
