Gusinsky Invitation

MOSCOW -- A group of U.S. congressmen has invited Media-MOST chairman Vladimir Gusinsky to visit Washington later this month to speak on freedom of the press, human rights and religious persecution in Russia, Interfax reported Wednesday.

The official invitation to the media tycoon said the congressmen appreciate the risks and personal sacrifices made by Gusinsky to secure freedom and independence of the press in Russia.

It is unclear whether Gusinsky, who is charged with embezzlement, will be able to visit the U.S. capital as the condition for his release from prison last month was that he not leave Moscow during the investigation into his case.
