Energy Tariffs Rise

MOSCOW -- Tariffs for household use of gas and electricity in Moscow have increased since July 1 in line with a resolution signed by Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov, Interfax reported Wednesday.

Users of gas who have a gas stove and a centralized hot-water supply will pay 3.7 rubles (13 cents) per person per month, up from 3.2 rubles. Users of gas with a gas stove and a gas water heater will pay 9.1 rubles instead of the 7.9 rubles they paid before.

Muscovites with electric stoves will pay 0.35 rubles per kilowatt hour up from 0.28 rubles, while users of gas stoves will pay 0.5 rubles per kilowatt hour, up from 0.4 rubles.
