Boeing Nearing $5.5Bln Jet Deal

NEW YORK -- Boeing Co. is near an agreement to sell 30 of its 777 model planes, valued at about $5.5 billion, to International Lease Finance Corp., The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, citing executives familiar with the negotiations.

The order from the jet-leasing giant, a unit of insurer American International Group Inc, is expected to be cemented during the next two weeks.

It would include eight of the newest long-haul versions, the article said. The value of the order is based on average list prices, and buyers typically pay less than list price.

Boeing's rival Airbus Industrie of Europe is said to be negotiating with the Los Angeles leasing firm about an order of A-330 planes and smaller jets.
