Yahoo Sues Yoohoo

BANGKOK, Thailand -- Internet portal Yahoo has filed a lawsuit in Thailand against a Thai-owned site, Yoohoo, claiming the site duplicates its name, a newspaper reported Sunday.

The U.S.-based Yahoo is not seeking compensation but wants the site removed, The Nation report said.

The newspaper said the chairman of the Thai Webmasters Association, Colonel Yanaphon Youngyuen, was contacted Saturday by the Yoohoo webmaster, Chatchai Thumprasreat, to ask for advice on the case.

A lawyer representing Yahoo had filed a lawsuit against Chatchai in April, saying the name was too close to its own.

Chatchai was quoted as saying Yoohoo was unlike the U.S. site, calling it a "virtual magazine for men'' but without explicit sexual material.
