WORLD BEAT: Oasis' Noel Blames Exit on Simian Bro

LONDON -- Calling his younger brother and bandmate Liam "monkey boy," Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher on Monday blamed his departure from the band's world tour on the singer's behavior.

"It's been virtually impossible for me to tour at the moment because he's been a bit of an idiot," Noel Gallagher said during a British Broadcasting Corp. radio interview, in which he performed solo pieces.

Gallagher, who writes the bulk of the band's songs, left the tour last month but plans to rejoin the group for its concerts in Britain.

"It's me that's kept the band together. ? It's just been made impossible for me to let alone be on the same stage but be in the same room as him," he said, referring to his brother.

Gallagher also dispelled speculation that he left to spend more time with his wife and newborn daughter.

"I don't like the way that people are blaming it on the fact that I want to spend more time at home," he said. "If you tasted my wife's tea you wouldn't."

Oasis has continued touring with guitarist Matt Deighton in Noel Gallagher's place, but has canceled several dates.
