Van der Sar Out

HOENDERLOO, Netherlands -- Dutch goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has been definitely ruled out of the final Group D match against world champions France and is also uncertain for the Euro 2000 quarterfinal, coach Frank Rijkaard announced Tuesday.

The goalkeeper injured his thigh during the Netherlands' 3-0 victory over Denmark last Friday when he charged off his line and into Dane Ebbe Sand.

"It is a difficult question with Van der Sar," Rijkaard said. "He will not play against France, that's for sure. But with the future matches, we still don't know."

Van der Sar will be replaced by Liverpool's Sander Westerveld.

Rijkaard said defender Jaap Stam was fully fit and ready to play.

"When he trained he did great," Rijkaard said. "That's great for the team and great for Jaap Stam."
