St. Pete Pays Eurobond

ST. PETERSBURG -- St. Petersburg transferred to a bank $14.167 million of interest on its 2002 Eurobond Wednesday so that it could arrive there ahead of schedule Friday, a city official said.

"We transferred all funds of a semiannual coupon to a Chase Manhattan Bank account today," said Marianna Faustova, a spokeswoman for the city's financial committee.

She said the payment would arrive by Friday and would be available for withdrawal by bondholders on the next business day, Monday.

St. Petersburg owes $14.167 million June 18, a semiannual coupon payment on its $300 million Eurobond, which falls due June 18, 2002.
