Shpigun to Be Buried

MOSCOW -- General Gennady Shpigun, whose remains were uncovered in Chechnya in March but only officially identified this week, will be buried Saturday in Moscow's Preobrazhenskoye Cemetery, Interfax reported, citing Deputy Interior Minister Valery Fyodorov.

Shpigun's body was shipped to Moscow on Thursday evening after a ceremony in Dagestan's capital, Makhachkala.

Forensic experts confirmed Wednesday that the remains belonged to the general, who was snatched from a passenger plane on the runway of Grozny's airport on March 5, 1999.
