Putin State Address

MOSCOW -- President Vladimir Putin is likely to make his state of the nation address to parliament on July 3, the speaker of the State Duma said Tuesday.

"This is what we tentatively agreed and how we are going to plan our schedule," Duma Speaker Gennady Seleznyov said after meeting with Putin.

The address will be eagerly awaited as a pointer of Putin's policy plans, which remain vague in most spheres.

Putin has produced pieces of legislation to implement his priority of strengthening state power, and his ministers have promised to make public soon a long-term scheme for the economy.
