Opposition Attacks

BELGRADE, Yugoslavia -- Accusing Moscow of double standards, a top Yugoslav opposition leader Wednesday criticized the Russian government and especially the military for supporting the autocratic regime of President Slobodan Milosevic.

The charges follow an apparently unsuccessful visit to Moscow in search of help in convincing Milosevic to halt his crackdown of independent media.

Opposition leader Zoran Djindjic and two other opposition leaders met with Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Avdeyev and members of the liberal Yabloko party.

"It would help if Russia's democratically elected government started acting logically by supporting Serbia's democratic forces," Djindjic said.
