Livshits Made Adviser

MOSCOW -- Former Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Livshits was appointed a financial and economic adviser to Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov on Wednesday, but is not on the permanent staff, said Tatyana Razbash, spokeswoman for Kasyanov.

She told reporters Wednesday that the decree on Livshits' appointment was signed by Igor Shuvalov, head of the government administration.

Last month, Livshits was replaced as Russia's envoy to the Group of Seven leading industrial nations. Since thenhe has been considering job proposals from different businesses, including heading the administration of Rossiisky Kredit, a bank severely hit by the 1998 financial crisis, which stopped operations two years ago.
