French-Russian Accord

PARIS -- Russia and France signed an accord lifting barriers to the large-scale supply of French nuclear equipment to Russia, the Russian Embassy in Paris said Tuesday.

The two countries also agreed to examine the feasibility of building a new generation nuclear reactor in Russia, to cooperate on stabilizing the world uranium market and to compare notes on MOX nuclear fuel, the embassy said.

The agreement on the supply of nuclear equipment f signed Tuesday by Nuclear Power Minister Yevgeny Adamov and French Industry Minister Christian Pierret f clarified which party was responsible for malfunctions of equipment supplied to Russian plants by French companies.
