Brussels Disturbance

BRUSSELS, Belgium -- Rival groups of youths clashed in central Brussels early Thursday after Italy's 2-0 victory in its match against Belgium.

Eyewitnesses said about 40 people hurled bottles and chairs at each other in front of the Bourse.

Police in riot gear were deployed and at least two people were arrested.

Last Saturday, Brussels police launched baton charges and repeatedly fired tear gas at several hundred revelers celebrating Belgium's victory in the opening match against Sweden.

Police maintained a far lower profile in the wake of Wednesday's Belgium-Italy fixture, withdrawing rapidly once order had been restored.
