MOSCOW -- Prosecutors have extended a criminal probe into the alleged embezzlement of $400 million from the national airline Aeroflot, Interfax said Monday.
The Prosecutor General's Office has decided to continue the 17-month-old investigation into the case until the end of this year pending the arrival of more documents from Swiss authorities, Interfax reported. A spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office refused to comment.
The investigators have said that the money was hidden in two Swiss companies, Andava and Forus Services, and was later laundered through various financial operations, including purchases of property and shares.
