Abkhazia Conflict

TBILISI, Georgia -- The government-in-exile of Georgia's separatist Abkhazia province on Tuesday denounced peace talks with rebel leaders and said Georgia should use military force to settle the conflict.

The Abkhazian Supreme Council, which has met in Georgia since being expelled from Abkhazia during a 1992-3 independence war for the tiny ethnic enclave, passed a resolution calling for the immediate stop of UN-sponsored peace talks.

Georgia's Minister of Emergency Situations Malkhaz Kakabadze responded that Georgia will not change its policy of peaceful negotiations with the rebel movement, which controls several towns on the country's Black Sea coast.
