FRANKFURT, Germany -- The German state of Hesse, which is the Frankfurt stock exchange regulator, said Friday it has demanded clarification on 14 points regarding the planned merger of the Frankfurt and London bourses.
A spokesman for the Economics Ministry in Hesse, the region in which Frankfurt is located, confirmed media reports that Hesse Minister of Economics Dieter Posch has presented a letter to Frankfurt bourse operator Deutsche B?rse AG's chief executive Werner Seifert demanding clarification.
The Hesse ministry has the final say in Germany on whether the merger goes ahead and has indicated it will block the deal unless Seifert gives clarification.
