Kiev Reform Slammed

KIEV -- World Bank experts have criticized a government project to reform the ailing energy sector as an ineffective plan that could lead to the re-nationalization of energy companies, a news agency said Thursday.

The experts, who examined a government resolution on regulating the energy sector, said it could make privatized regional energy companies subordinate to the Energy Ministry, Interfax reported.

Deputy Prime Minister Julia Tymoshenko, who is in charge of the energy sector, said at a news conference the government had improved its resolution in response to the World Bank criticism.
