U.S. Outlook Good

NEW YORK -- Two U.S. economic reports released Wednesday, on construction and manufacturing, suggest that the nation's economic boom, already the longest ever, has plenty of steam left.

The report said spending on construction projects jumped by 2.7 percent in January, the biggest increase in nearly two years.

Separately, prices paid by U.S. firms for manufacturing supplies hit a five-year high in February, mostly because of the rising cost of oil, a private report said Wednesday.
