Ukraine Nazi Labor

KIEV -- A group representing Ukrainian victims of Nazi slave labor policies called on Germany to speed up distribution of a compensation package, saying many elderly survivors will die before seeing the money.

Germany's parliament, the Bundestag, still must approve the 10-billion-mark ($5.5 billion) package, which includes public and private funds. Victims-rights groups and German negotiators reached agreement on dividing up the funds last week, but a precise timeline was not included in the deal.

Ukraine, which currently has 610,000 elderly survivors, will receive 1.724 billion marks ($948.2 million).
