TNK Starts New Wells

MOSCOW -- Tyumen Oil Co., of TNK, has launched production at a number of new oil fields in Khanty-Mansiisk autonomous region in Western Siberia, the oil major announced Wednesday.

In February, the first month of extraction, TNK produced 306 metric tons of crude oil at Nezhdannoye oil field. Chekhloneiskoye and North-Demyanskoye oil fields also launched in February produced 340 tons and 299 tons respectively. At West-Yermakovskoye oil field, where extraction started in January, TNK produced 1,980 tons in February, 857 tons up from January's level.

"The company is aiming at increasing production," Sergei Brezitsky, TNK's first vice president responsible for production and geological research, was quoted as saying in a statement.
