Something for Everyone

Need to go shopping but keep your kids occupied at the same time? Head to the All-Russia Exhibition Center (formerly VDNKh), where little ones can visit the Mowgli entertainment center and enjoy a trampoline, slides, dry swimming pools, game machines, a small gymnasium and even a special children's bar. On Sundays kids can also see circus shows. The center is located at Pavilion 6 and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Entrance fee is 50 rubles Monday through Friday, 70 rubles on Saturday and Sunday. Metro VDNKh. Tel. 216-1241.

Not Your Average Egg

The "Museum Gifts" exhibit at the Darwin Museum through April 23 is a perfect place to show your children a real natural marvel: the egg of an Aepyornis Maximus, the now-extinct "elephant bird" of Madagascar. The aepyronis was 3 meters tall and could weigh as much as 450 kilograms; each of its eggs was approximate in size to 200 chicken eggs. The museum, located at 57 Ulitsa Vavilova, is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is 5 rubles for children, 12 rubles for adults. Metro Akademicheskaya. Tel. 134-6124.

What Do Grapes Act Like?

See "The Adventures of Cipollino," known in Russian as "Priklyucheniya Chipollino," a play based on the charming tale by Italian writer Gianni Rodari where the heroes sport the names and characteristics of fruits and vegetables. The play is being performed in Russian at noon Saturday and Sunday on the small stage of the Russian Army Theater, 2 Suvorovsky Square. Tickets cost between 10 and 40 rubles. Metro Novoslobodskaya.
