February Surplus

MOSCOW -- Russia's primary budget surplus, which excludes debt servicing, amounted to 5.7 percent of gross domestic product in February, local news agencies quoted First Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov as saying Thursday.

Prime-Tass quoted Kasyanov as saying the primary surplus for January and February would exceed 6 percent. The government expects a 3-percent primary surplus for the whole of 2000.

Kasyanov was quoted by agencies as saying budget revenue in February amounted to 69.2 billion rubles ($2.42 billion) and spending to 56.4 billion rubles.
