Ever walk into a Moscow nightclub and get the feeling you're not the only American around? Maybe it was the jean-clad, whooping cowboy types, or perhaps the ubiquitous polo shirts, but I definitely had that feeling at the Voodoo Lounge last week.

The Voodoo Lounge is under new management and has changed quite a bit since last summer - and since last year, for that matter, when it was called Dusk Till Dawn. Now, the club has occasional belly dancing, guest DJs, animal sacrifices (once, at Halloween) and that sort of Cheers-with-a-big-dance-floor look to it, probably familiar to patrons of Chesterfield's, or Pig-Head, or whatever it's called these days.

But everybody here doesn't know your name, although its not hard to get to know theirs. In other words, the girls here are friendly - very friendly. Some of them will be even friendlier for around $100, but never mind - there is every reason to be friendly at this place. With reasonably-priced drinks and a casual, relaxed atmosphere, the Voodoo Lounge has none of the pretension of the more expensive, trendier discotheques.

And, unlike some of the other bars in this town that cater to American tastes, the place isn't afraid to serve good old Russian beer, Baltika, for 70 rubles. The Voodoo Lounge also has a restaurant that serves a mix of Russian and American food at reasonable prices.

Later, if you get tired of dancing to Ricky Martin and Mr. Mambo Number Whatever, head to the pool table, although there is often a line. But be sure to head back to the dance floor afterward - by 3 a.m., it's usually packed.
