Shoigu in Greece

ATHENS -- Greece and Russia said Tuesday they would cooperate on coping with emergency situations ranging from fighting forest fires to providing humanitarian aid to Yugoslavia.

Moscow also extended an invitation to Greece prime minister to visit Russia.

"We had very intense discussions on a broad range of issues," Sergei Shoigu, deputy prime minister and minister for emergency situations, said after meeting Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou in Athens.

Papandreou thanked Russia for its help during a killer earthquake that struck Athens in September and for helping douse a string of forest fires.
