Jet Certification Set

MOSCOW -- The Tupolev aircraft group will not receive a certificate for its 100-seat T-334 jet until the end of 2001, Prime-Tass quoted a spokesman for the company as saying Tuesday.

The program of factory adjustment and certification tests will not be fulfilled until the end of 2000. Only one jet will undergo trial tests at this stage.

The second prototype will be finished at the Aviant plant in Kiev in the third quarter of 2000. The third machine will join the tests in the second quarter of 2001. It will be built by the MIG aircraft corporation, Prime-Tass reported.

MIG director general Nikolai Nikitin has said foreign orders for the Tupolev-334 jets may total 100. Demand for a jet of the type is also high in Russia and the CIS.
