Media Group To Probe Death of TV Man

PARIS - The Paris-based media rights group Reporters Without Borders said Tuesday it was asking Russia's government to open an inquiry into the recent killing of TV cameraman Adam Tepsurkayev in the rebel Chechnya region.

The group said that according to its information the 24-year-old freelance cameraman, who had worked for several news organisations including Reuters, died when gunmen broke into a house near Grozny Nov. 21 and opened fire.

"We are asking the Russian authorities to open a serious inquiry into this murder," Robert Menard, secretary-general of the group, said in a statement.

The group said Tepsurkayev's brother, Ali, was injured in the attack and had said the assailants were Chechen-speaking.
