Italian President Completes Visit to Russia

ST. PETERSBURG - Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi on Wednesday wrapped up a three-day visit to Russia with trips to the Hermitage Art Museum and a cemetery for Italian prisoners of war.

After meeting with St. Petersburg cultural figures at the famed gallery, Ciampi flew to the Tambov region, about 400 kilometers southeast of Moscow. Ciampi laid wreaths in the village of Rada, where more than 6,700 World War II-era Italian prisoners of war are buried.

Ciampi then left for Rome.
