Shares Slip Back

MOSCOW -- Russian shares ended softer Monday, coming off a high in the previous session, but traders and analysts said the market remained well-supported and more growth was expected.

The dollar-denominated Moscow Times Index of 50 leading shares fell 2.25 percent to 151.26 on turnover of $24.487 million.

The benchmark RTS1-Interfax shares index slipped 2.37 percent to close at 197.91, just down from Friday's close of 204.62, its highest in 18 months. Volume on the main Russian Trading System market was a quiet $21.1 million.
