Queen Invests in Net

LONDON -- Britain's Queen Elizabeth has jumped on the bandwagon of investors hoping to make money in the Internet boom, buying a pounds 100,000 ($164,000) stake in a new dot-com company, the top-selling Sun tabloid said Monday.

The report said the monarch, one of the world's richest women, had dipped into her personal fortune to take 5 percent of the Millennium Mapping Co., which is building up a complete aerial picture of Britain for a giant Internet map.

The bird's eye view of the country frozen in time was created so that customers can zoom in on their neighborhood. The project was dedicated to the queen at its inception.

"We don't have any details of the queen's personal investments," a Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said.
