Proton Launch Soon

MOSCOW -- Russia will launch an Indonesian communications satellite in February aboard a Proton rocket, the first use of the rocket since one blew up in October, Interfax reported Monday.

The launch, which will carry the Garuda-1 satellite, will take place Feb. 12, the report said, citing a statement by the Khrunichev space center, which makes the Proton.

Last year, two Proton rockets crashed shortly after launch July 5 and Oct. 27.
