Palladium Soars

LONDON -- Palladium fixed at a new all-time high of $474.00 a troy ounce on Tuesday, while platinum was fixed at $460.00, its highest since June 1997.

On Monday afternoon, palladium fixed at $465.00 a troy ounce and platinum at $455.00.

Good industrial demand and little or no metal from major supplier Russia so far this year has been behind palladium's price rise, which has seen the metal rise more than $30 since the start of the year.

Platinum moved higher with palladium.

Major producer Norilsk Nickel said Tuesday it will continue to load palladium for world markets and it saw platinum reaching the market in February.
