Kazakh MiG Trial

ALMATY, Kazakhstan -- The trial of a top general accused of illegally selling 40 MiG fighter jets to North Korea came to an abrupt halt Tuesday when he had a heart attack in the courtroom.

General Bakhytzhan Yertayev, head of Kazakhstan's general staff, was taken to a hospital. His lawyer, Semyon Ginzburg, said the prosecution had been behaving "aggressively" just before the heart trouble began.

Former Defense Minister Mukhtar Altynbayev told the court Tuesday the government had issued an order regarding the MiG sale, but when pressed for details, he said he couldn't remember them - then Yertayev suffered a heart attack.
